The Convention aims to facilitate the international trade of objects in precious metals, also through the harmonization of standards and technical regulations, and to guarantee adequate protection of the final consumer. The scope is strictly limited to checking the content of precious metals. To this end, the Convention introduced the first international guarantee mark – the Common Control Mark (CCM) – which indicates the precious metal and its fineness.
